Marine Ship Repair Yard "Gryfia” J.S.C. has completed the repair of the bulk carrier “Isadora”

On the 27th of November this year, the repair of the bulk carrier “Isadora” owned by the Polish Steamship Company was completed at Szczecin-based Marine Ship Repair Yard “Gryfia”. The repair included inspections and repairs of the ship’s devices and installations within the scope of intermediate repair. It also consisted of maintenance and coating work on the hull, decks and in cargo holds. In addition to the standard repair work in dry-dock, the ballast system was also upgraded by mounting, aboard the ship, type Bio-Sea B-10-1500 installation for treating ballast water. She is the second laker to be provided with such installation. A month earlier similar work had been performed on board the ship “Isa”. Tests of the installation were finished on the 25th of November this year. Repair of another two ships in the same series, namely, “Iryda” and “Isolda”, should begin at Gryfia Shipyard still this year. From the shipyard, “Isadora” set out on a voyage to the port of Ryga, then to Hull in England. The bulk carrier “Isadora” was constructed at the Japanese shipyard Mitsui in 1999. The basic technical information is as follows: length overall: ~200 m, breadth: ~23,6 m, deadweight: ~35 000 DWT, moulded draught: ~10,7 m. By the end of October this year, 126 ships were repaired at the Marine Ship Repair Yard „Gryfia” in Szczecin and Świnoujście, respectively. Among customers of the shipyard there were ship-owners from Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Canada and Turkey. At the same time, the financial situation of the shipyard has taken a turn for the better during the second half year. Most of dry-docks at the shipyard in Szczecin and Świnoujście will be fully booked until the end of the year.
