Last of the icebreakers, Manat launched

2021.06.02

Yesterday, i.e. on 1 June 2021, launching of the last of a series of four icebreakers commissioned by the Regional Water Management Board in Gdańsk took place as part of the project "Construction of icebreakers for the Regional Water Management Board in Gdańsk", co-financed by the Infrastructure and Environment Operational Programme 2014-2020. The vessel has been named "Manat" and is a linear icebreaker designed to expand the trough in the ice broken by frontal icebreakers and also to break it in the area inaccessible to larger vessels. Its equipment allows for towing, rescue, fire and hydrographic functions as well. The vessel, all the previous ones, alike has been built under the supervision of the Polish Register of Shipping.
